About Me
Creativity has always been part of who I am. Years ago, I found joy in learning Adobe Photoshop and exploring digital art, but a rewarding career in technology and the responsibilities of family life naturally took center stage. While those years were filled with meaningful work, the desire to create never disappeared—it simply waited for the right time. After retiring from a career in software engineering leadership in 2022, I rediscovered that creative spark. Quilting had already introduced me to the beauty of fabric and pattern, and it wasn't long before I discovered the world of surface pattern design. What began as an online class quickly became a passion for designing collections that celebrate nature, craftsmanship, and timeless beauty. Working under the name Montazona, my designs are inspired by the places I call home—the quiet textures of the Arizona desert and the ever-changing beauty of Montana's landscapes. I'm drawn to the subtle details many people overlook: weathered stones, desert blooms, seed pods, native grasses, mountain wildflowers, and the rhythm found in nature. Those elements become sophisticated patterns with soft, carefully curated color palettes that feel both modern and enduring. My background in technology also shapes the way I design. Years spent leading software engineering teams taught me the value of thoughtful process, attention to detail, collaboration, and continuous learning. Today, I bring that same intentional approach to every collection I create, balancing artistic exploration with careful craftsmanship. I create artwork that invites people to slow down, notice the beauty around them, and surround themselves with designs that feel authentic and lasting. Whether my patterns appear on fabric, home décor, stationery, or lifestyle products, my hope is that they become part of meaningful moments and everyday rituals. I welcome opportunities to collaborate with manufacturers, art directors, and brands seeking distinctive surface pattern designs for licensing. My goal is to create collections that tell a story, evoke a sense of place, and bring timeless elegance to products people will treasure for years to come.
